Gingerbread mushrooms and Autumn Feeling

Can you believe the weather this week? It feels like a heatwave in the middle of July somewhere in Italy and definatelly not England. But surprise surprise and please make the most of Indian summer untill it lasts.

The hottest day of September and flip flops with sun dresses were out. The day almost finished but thermometer still shows 20C degree..

I probably even caught a sun tan on my lunch break today.. Total madness as tomorrow is 1st of October..

This was a present from my school friend Ieva. I remember her mom used to bake them when we were at school. These gingerbread mushrooms will always remind me of my friend and her mom..
When I'll get the recipe I will definatelly share it with you all.

Don't want to sound like a weather girl but in a few weeks this hot hot hot weather will be like a dream and we all be wrapped up (again) in warm coats, knitted scarfs, gloves and hats just to make ourselfs cosy in Autumn chiliness.

Thanks to my lovely friend Hayley who made this super crafty mushroom!

Hope you all had Beautiful September..

I welcome The October and see you all then! xxx

Cosy Sunday

It started getting dark pretty early, shame on you Mr. Autumn!

But I like those cosy evenings with a candle (when I remember) and a hot drink (an absolute variety on the shelf) to make you all warm and sleepy...

Night night...

Dark Lithuanian Bread

I just love dark Lithuanian bread and there are so many different types and tastes that I wouldn't even know where to start and on the other hand I don't live there anymore so it would be a bit difficult guessing game for me.

1 k (2 lbs) coarsely milled wheat flour
3 cups water or milk
50 g (2 oz) sugar
20 g (4 teaspoons) fresh yeast
2 teaspoons salt

Mix yeast with sugar and dissolve in warm liquid. Add one third of flour, mix well and set in warm spot to rise. Beat yeast dough, add salt and remaining flour and knead well. Brush top of dough with fat to keep it from drying out as it rises. Form large, round rolls on a bran sprinkled surface. Let rise and paint with egg wash before placing in preheated oven, bake at 350F/180C, until rolls are nicely browned.

First Monday of September and my calendar states that it was Labour Day an annual holiday to celebrate economic and social achievements of workers that worked hard in those long hours for a loaf of bread... well, this is only my indetification... Don't ask me why but labour I would associate with bread so I thought I'll better do the 'bread business'...

Birthday Cake

It's been a while since I had this amazing cake so I'm just rushing to share it with you guys and please don't lick your computer screens :)

The long awaited 30th was greeted with this fabulous rich Chocolate - Rum cake and no, I didn't bake this beauty... It came from the supermarket. My mom recommended it as she and the girls already tried it and it was lovely, she said...

...and it was super lovely. That kind of lovely when you have chocolate all over your face and you go for another piece...

This photo - card was inspired by Creature Comforts that was inspired too..

It probably was the last shot before i got the plates ...
